Fall 2022 Move-In Details and Information
Selecting a Move-In Time
All residents, both new and returning, will need to select a specific Move-In Time this Fall 2022.
Residents with a room assignment for the 2022-2023 academic year will be able to sign up for a Move-In Time. If you have not yet received a room assignment for the 2022-2023 academic year, you will not be able to select a Move-In Time.
We recommend that residents consider any travel, transportation, and guest assistance plans prior to selecting your Move-In Time. The Move-In Time selection tool does allow residents to cancel and select a new Move-In Time, if necessary.
Having a specific Move-In time for each resident allows us to allocate our staff and resources in a manner to best assist residents during their Move-In. Time slots are also structured to allow for responsible social distancing and to reduce congestion.
Please note that arriving at a time other than your assigned Move-In time may result in a lengthy delay as we prioritize assistance to scheduled residents.
What day is Move-In?
Move-In takes place over a number of days between Wednesday, August 17, and Sunday, August 21. Residents will be need to select a Move-In Time and date that match their status as either a new or returning Campus Housing resident.
If you are arriving prior to Move-In Days of August 17-21, you should not select a Move-In Time.
- New Campus Housing residents, including transfer students, may select a Move-In Time on Wednesday, August 17
- Returning Campus Housing residents are welcome to Move-In on Thursday, August 18, through Sunday, August 21
- Note – any returning residents that select a Move-In Time on Wednesday, August 17, will have their selected Move-In Time cancelled as that day is specific to new Campus Housing residents.

Guests Assisting with Move-In
Campus Housing defines guests as any individual that is not a roommate of the assigned resident. This includes family members or friends as well as students that reside in a residence hall location different than the hosting resident.
All guests must be escorted by and in the presence of the resident hosting them while in the residence hall. Guests must have a govt. or state-issued photo ID on them, in case identification is needed.
Guests must wear face masks while on-campus, especially while in the residence halls. All PPE (personal protection equipment) must be provided by the resident and their guests.
Interim Housing for Early Arrivals
Summer-to-Fall Interim Housing is from 12:00pm on Saturday, August 6, 2022, to 12:00pm on Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
If you are planning to arrive before Wednesday, August 17, please sign up for Interim Housing. Residents will pay a small per-night fee for Interim Housing. The preferred deadline to apply for Interim Housing is Wednesday, August 3 by 5PM. If you do not sign up for Interim Housing, your room will not be ready for your arrival prior to your selected Move-In Time.
Following your application, please check your UIC email account for confirmation as the Interim approval process is ongoing. If you need to cancel your Interim application, please send an email to housing@uic.edu before the start of the Interim period.
Late Arrivals
If you are unable to move in prior to Monday, August 22, please contact the Housing Office (housing@uic.edu) so that your late arrival will not be mistaken for a change in your housing plans (such as cancellation).
Health and Safety
Our operations have changed in many ways to support a living environment conducive to academic success and well-being. Increased sanitation measures include multiple daily cleanings of high touch, high traffic areas incorporating tools such as electrostatic sprayer cleaners and increased access to sanitation stations. Labeling Personal Belongings
We recommend that residents moving into Campus Housing label their personal belongings, including:
- moving boxes, Rubbermaid containers, and similar
- personal items that are transported in a standalone manner
- luggage, duffel bags, and similar
Suggested labeling methods include using painters tape or paper with the resident’s name and UIN on it. This allows us to help assist residents with any items that may be misplaced during their Move-In process.
