Spring 2026 Closing Information
Introduction
The following information will better assist you as Campus Housing prepares for the end of the Spring semester. This communication includes important dates, deadlines, resident checkout procedures, room damage assessment, summer Housing options, and closing information. We ask that you read this packet in its entirety.

Details
Interim and Summer Housing Information
All residents must be officially checked out of their Spring 2026 room assignments by 12 PM (noon) on May 9th, unless they have a confirmed Interim Housing assignment.
Interim Housing is only available for students who have a Spring Housing contract and have signed a Housing contract for 4-week or 12-week summer housing. These students will remain in their spring room assignment at the end of the spring semester and will be required to move into their summer room assignment on May 16 -17 between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm.

Summer Housing contract options:
- 4-week Session May 17,2026 – June 13, 2026
- 8-week Session June 14, 2026- August 8, 2026
- 12-week Session May 17, 2026- August 8, 2026
Move-In for Summer begins at noon on the first day of the contract term, checkout is at noon on the last day of the contract term.
Graduating Seniors
Graduating seniors wishing to remain on campus until May 10th, 2026, 12 PM (noon), must log into the Housing Portal to request an extension.
- As graduating residents would not have a room assignment for the following semester/term, they are not eligible for Interim Housing.
End of Semester – Schedule an In-Person Checkout
Residents are required to checkout within 24 hours of their last Final.
All students must schedule an In-Person Checkout date and time via the Housing Portal. Two checkout options are available an In-Person Checkout or an express checkout. If you complete an express checkout, you declare that you have permanently vacated the unit and assume responsibility for any charges or damages assessed upon inspection by staff.
To schedule an In-Person Checkout date and time, please follow the directions below.
- Sign up for an In-Person Checkout is done by visiting the Housing Portal and selecting In-Person Checkout Sign-Up from the menu or navigation bar.
- Residents should consider their final exam schedule and plan ahead, as checkout within 24 hours after their last final is policy.
- Interim Housing is only available to residents that have a Summer 4 or 12-week Housing
- Residents can cancel and reselect a new in-person checkout timeslot, if needed.
- No cancellations or reselections will be allowed less than 24 hours before a resident’s selected In-Person Checkout timeslot.
- Participation in Express Checkout waives the right to appeal damage or cleaning charges.
- Please schedule an In-Person Checkout date and time by clicking the date and time on the calendar. In-Person Checkouts are available Monday, May 4 through Friday, May 8 from 8AM – 10PM. In-Person Checkout requests on Saturday, May 9 can be requested at your residence hall’s front desk. The last day for checkout is May 9th at 12 PM (noon). Interim and improper check-out charges applied beginning at 12 PM (noon), May 9th.
Cleaning Your Space
Please note that all residents are required to leave their space clean prior to their departure.
Before your scheduled checkout date and time, complete the following to avoid any cleaning fees:
- Remove all trash and clean out trash cans- take to trash room
- Remove items on walls that were added as decorations, including tape, posters,
- Clean all surfaces in
- Un-bunk beds and place furniture back in the position it was in when you moved into your room space (as it applies).
- For suites, clusters, and apartments – cleaning expectations apply to common areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, and any other common areas within the unit
- Clean kitchen, kitchen cabinets, counters and oven/stove (apartment residents)
- Empty and clean refrigerator, stove and microwave (rented micro-fridges) (apartment resident residents).
- Rented Micro-fridge from My Micro-Fridge: clean, unplug, defrost, and leave door
- Clean bathroom, toilet, and Should be free of mold and mildew (cluster, suite, and apartment residents).

- Remove all personal belongings from your room and/or
- Set AC units to midway point or 68 degrees is
- Turn off
*$50 per bag of trash/abandoned belongings will be charged for any belongings left in a unit. These belongings will be disposed.
Day of Checkout
Be ready at the time of your scheduled in-person checkout. Once you remove all your belongings out of your space and have walked the space with a staff member, please follow the directions below.

- Sign check out list on door to indicate
- Stop at your residence hall’s front desk location to properly return your keys in a checkout envelope with our front desk staff and check out of space.
- Emergency after hours check outs, please call RA On Call of your residence hall to assist with front desk key return and check out procedure.
Any belongings left in your space will be discarded.
- You will be charged $50 per bag of trash left in your space.
- Failure to return or lost residence hall space keys/bathroom keys/closet keys/ to the front desk will result in $98.00 per
- Failure to vacate residence hall space and check out at front desk by May 9th 12PM (noon) will result in a late checkout fee of $150.00 and applicable Interim Housing charges.
If you complete an express checkout, you declare that you have permanently vacated the unit and assume responsibility for any charges or damages assessed upon inspection by staff.
We will not accept keys mailed to Campus Housing after departure.
Inspections & Damages
Room and unit inspections will be conducted by Campus Housing staff. Inspections are very thorough and may result in damage being found. Excessive trash found will result in a $50 fee per bag, plus $150 improper checkout fee. Any damage or excessive trash found and/or assessed during this time will be noted and billed to your student account.
The submission of work orders during the end of the semester does not absolve you of responsibility for any charges related to room damage or cleaning. You will remain fully liable for these charges, regardless of when work orders are submitted, and these will be attended to after the residence hall closes.
Improper and late check outs and damage charges will be applied to student accounts within 30 calendar days of checkout. Appeals can be submitted only within 30 calendar days once applied to student accounts. Participation in Express Checkout waives the right to appeal.
Mail & Package Delivery
If you are ordering packages close to the end of the Spring semester, be aware that they may not be delivered prior to the closing of the residence halls. Avoid sending any unnecessary packages during finals week during the end of the Spring semester unless you have a summer Housing contract to avoid packages being sent back to carriers. Packages delivered to Campus Housing that do not have an active room assignment will be returned to the sender.
Mail will not be forwarded by Campus Housing. Change your address with the US Postal Service to have your mail appropriately forwarded. We also recommend updating your mailing information with the University through your student account. Campus Housing does not take liability for any package returned to sender carrier.
Bicycles
All bicycles and similar personal transportation devices must be removed from each residence hall upon checkout. Items left behind after May 9th, 2026, will be considered abandoned and disposed of by Campus Housing.
Storage
Campus Housing does not offer any storage options during the summer. If storage options are needed, students are encouraged to research local options. A popular option used by Campus Housing residents is Dorm Room Movers.
